The BCCCC-NB Youth Civic Engagement Club is a dynamic youth initiative focused on civic education, leadership development, and cultural empowerment for Afro-Canadian youth in New Brunswick.
Purpose & Vision
The Youth Civic Engagement Club is designed to deepen the civic involvement of Afro-Canadian youth by immersing them in the workings of Canada’s democratic institutions, especially Parliament. The initiative aims to:
- Build awareness of political systems and democratic processes.
- Encourage active participation in civic life.
- Develop leadership and communication skills.
- Strengthen cultural identity and community ties.
- Increase visibility of African-Canadian youth in public spheres.
Core Objectives
1. Civic Education & Political Literacy
- Youth will gain hands-on understanding of Canadian political institutions.
- Activities include simulations of parliamentary debates and legislative processes.
- Participants will learn how laws are made, how MPs and senators operate, and how government functions.
2. Informed Citizen Participation
- Training in parliamentary debate, legislative proposal writing, and negotiation.
- Focus on empowering youth to engage meaningfully with political systems.
